Our prisms are crafted from high-transparency K9 optical glass. Throughout production, each piece is inspected one by one for clarity and defects, then finely hand-polished and buffed, before being strictly calibrated to precise dimensions. This ensures every prism boasts impeccable quality and consistency.
When light passes from air into the prism’s glass, it bends (refracts). A beam of white light is actually a cluster of lights with different wavelengths—and these lights experience different degrees of refraction inside the prism: shorter wavelengths (like violet light) bend more sharply, while longer wavelengths (like red light) bend more gently. The light that once traveled side by side gets split apart by the prism, turning into the rainbow hues we can see!
Quick tip: Gem-style prisms are quite delicate. It’s recommended to place them on soft surfaces (like fluffy trays). You can also search for “soft storage trays” to keep them well-protected!
